Forward Newsletter | Issue 06: A NEW Verticale

Hi hi,

Drum roll please. We have some very (super) exciting news, akin to a rebirth. Think of it like that kid who studied abroad and now talks in a slightly French accent and pronounces them cwa-sonts. Think of it like a 2000s “She’s All That”  teen romcom where the nerdy girl gets a hot new makeover. Well, maybe you guessed it but we lost the proverbial glasses, added a little lipgloss, and bought a beret. That’s right, the Verticale website has a totally new look and feel and we’ve been working our butts off just for you.

What does that mean? A new homepage, a new blog, new brand pages, new value pages, new influencers, new new brands, and phew! You think we’d be tired of saying “new” but instead we get that giddy first-love type feeling: new new new new new!

Anyway, give us a second to catch our breaths and rub out our cheeks cause smiling hurts sometimes! You’re here for fun, right? Well, this week our newsletter is going to take it back home to the basics (before next week when we bombard you with more new brands and products).

Hopefully this will be a better companion than whatever boring websites you’ve been forced to spend your time with before us.✨ See you here, every Wednesday.

Busy Doing What?: Our Founders Keeping it Real

Jaclyn’s Busy…

  • Not sleeping, I’ve spent the past 34 days, 5 hours, and 28 minutes (but who’s counting?) preparing for this new website launch and I am so happy to be sharing it with you ????
  • Reading up on the politics of fashion in regards to fast-production and waste.
  • Wondering how sea scallops can be helping the Maine ecosystem ????

Michelle’s Busy…

  • Getting excited about our new website launch– it’s almost like seeing your baby’s first steps, if your baby knew how to pronounce Ethical Conscious Consumerism.
  • Learning about how goats may help with the wildfires, yeah, GOATS! ????????????
  • Loving Dame and other brands even more for their NYT full page ad dedicated to thanking the people trying to combat the Texas Abortion Law.

Diving Deep: Something you didn’t know about some of our Verticale Values– breaking down what they mean to us and to you!

Responsible Materials: Think of your nice girl-next-door cotton, or your man-made fabrics made from wood (pulp included), or that innovative cool-kid stuff like paper made out of stones (I know I know, but I promise it IS smoother than the normal stuff). THAT’s responsible

Reducing Waste: Why MAKE waste? There’s already about 300 million tons of plastic waste being produced every year, so maybe it’s not a bad idea to help reduce that number. Brands that upcycle materials, or avoid waste by small batch producing, or who emphasize circularity, or even make biodegradable formulas. These are the brands that pick up trash at the beach, that always put the supermarket cart back, and that tip their baristas– AKA doing the most for their fellow man.

Ethical Production: Fast fashion is built on the backs on under-paid laborers, who spend their days stitching together crop tops to barely make enough to scrape by. Enough is enough, this value ensures that the workers making the brand’s products are getting a living wage (goes above minimum wage) and have a safe working environment.

Local Craftsmanship: You wouldn’t trust anyone without an MD or PhD to operate on you, so why trust just anyone with your stuff. This value focuses on getting the best crafted items, made by the hands of people who have been doing it for generations and who could probably do it with their eyes closed too.

See ya next week, same time same place.
