Howdy,

I think this is the moment we should check in with you. How are you? Is everything going as you’d like it to? It’s hard to believe that we’ve been in this Corona-nightmare for about 1.5 years, and yet knowing that we’re basically in fall feels so weird! Living in a weird dichotomy of still being scared of that double-French-cheek-kiss and buying Halloween decorations two months early (looking at you Target).

Anyway, enough with the deep stuff. We’re here for fun, right? Fun this week includes: the new african-crop that is fixing your skin and digestion, apparently getting told off by a cup (??), and American politics (how refreshing and new! *eye roll*).

Hopefully this will be a better companion than the existential crises we’re all having.✨ See you here, every Wednesday.

Diving Deep: Something you didn’t know about Baobab Oil– how this lost African crop is breaking into the skincare game.

What are “lost crops”? Lost crops are synonymous with wild plants, which grow in the harshest environments displaying a resilience that reflects in their qualities. Because of the environments they live in, these wild crops are forced to dig their roots deeply into the soil, unlocking all sorts of unique bacterias and nutrients that are rich in minerals, polyphenols and antioxidants. You may ask, well, if they’re so good why aren’t we using them already? The thing is that the indigenous people ARE using them and reaping their benefits. But western civilization can sometimes be thick headed about plants grown without human-hands, pesticides, or GMOs.

What is so special about Baobab? Baobab (or Adansonia Digitata) is one such plant that naturally grows in the tropical Savanna. This plant is like a three-in-one shampoo except it’s really like a ten-in-one. The Baobab fruit: improves gut health; helps healthy blood sugar; softens wrinkles; improves skin elasticity; protects from environmental stressors. Above that it also has 5x more antioxidants than berries, 6x more Vitamin C than oranges, and is high in calcium, magnesium, and potassium. All in all? Skip the green juice, and indulge in this lost fruit.
