A Dog’s Guide to NYC

Pancake, Eva, and Rae are not only The Verticale mascots, but also seasoned New Yorkers. They know the ins-and-outs of this city like nobody’s business, and they’re spilling the beans so you and your pup can enjoy the city too.

A little bit about them. Pancake is a 40 pound goldendoodle and our co-founder, Jaclyn’s, pride and joy. He’s more often than not the center of attention of every zoom call, and he loves a good treat.

Eva is our copywriter’s 10 pound miniature schnauzer. She’s a people person and will often cry if you catch her eye and then don’t pet her. She’s a jetsetter and down right spoiled, but in the best of ways.

Rae is our content coordinator’s cavapoo (half King Charles cavalier spaniel, half poodle). She’s appropriately named after a ray of sunshine because she brings happiness and warmth to everyone she meets. She’s like a friendly weighted blanket who never wants to get off of anyone’s lap!

Where does Pancake suggest?

1

Le Doggie Cool, Williamsburg

It’s in the name, this doggie daycare is super cool. Pancake loves making friends and attending the fun pup-parties that they throw.

2

Bark Park, Williamsburg

This outdoor bar is THE go-to place for pet-parents who want some quality time with their dog-children without compromising on happy hour. Think of it like a progressive mommy and me.

3

Starbucks Reserve, on n. 7th

Pancake CANNOT live without his puppuccinos. Plain and simple, and this Starbucks is his absolute favorite.

4

What’s he wearing?

Pancake absolutely kills in the Wild One green harness set. It’s hard sometimes, being as gorgeous as he is.

Where does Eva suggest?

5

Zee.dog, Soho

Eva loves the plush toys from this store, especially because their design is a little freaky and monster-like.

6

Zoomies, West Village

This local dog store is a hidden treasure. The french owner designs and makes a lot of the dog clothes (which Eva loves) and they carry really fun toys (if you haven’t caught on, toys are a theme for Eva).

7

Crosby Hotel, Soho

Sometimes mom needs a happy hour pick-me-up or a boozy brunch, so she’ll take Eva to the restaurant at the Crosby Hotel. Eva personally loves this because of all the snacks she gets snuck under the table.

8

Doggy Style, University Place

The dog beds, the bowls, the snacks! This cute local dog store leans more into the accessories theme but they have everything you need to let your dog OFFICIALLY take over your home.

9

Boris & Horton, East Village

Self-described as NYC’s first dog-friendly cafe, Eva and her mom often go here for a little coffee break, and dog-treat break.

10

Washington Square Park

Walks are great, but walks in WSP are the best because all the NYU kids always ask to pet her and she gets to feel like the center of attention.

11

Eva’s Favorite Sweater

Because she’s so tiny, Eva gets really cold during the East Coast winter, so she often needs to sweater up. Personal favorite has to be Little Beast, not only does she always get stopped (and pet) the quality is great and super warm.

What’s she wearing?

Eva, if she does say so herself, looks so cute in the Wild One purple harness set. Paired with one of her cute sweaters? Yes please.

Where does Rae suggest?

13

Muz Muz Cafe, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The owners and staff are super friendly and have CBD dog treats waiting by the door for all their furry guests!

14

Alita Cafe, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

This local coffee shop leaves out fresh water for the dogs who stop in, and sometimes they give Rae a homemade treat (which she 10/10 recommends).

15

Cooper Park, Brooklyn

Not only does Cooper Park have it’s own dog-friendly and off-leash section, but it’s full of shady spots, benches and places for Rae to stretch out.

16

What’s she wearing?

Rae currently wears a handmade knit sweater from a local pet store in Michigan to keep her warm in the winter.
